Last Friday Kim High did one of her great volunteer walks at Side Cute Metropark. She pointed out a dragonfly in a nose down posture which she called obelisking (a new verb form of that word for me). Here is a photo I captured of one of them, it might be a Swift River Cruiser, but I am not sure. Here is Wiki link to more info on the subject WIKI LINK.
One theory is that they do this on sunny warm days to reduce their exposure to the sun, and you can see very little shadow cast by the dragonfly below, so that seems like a good possibility.
